Buy It Now, make offer, or both?
Buy It Now converts best: a buyer who likes the name can pay immediately. Make offer scares off many buyers who assume the price is huge, and attracts low-ball offers. Many sellers show a Buy It Now price and also accept offers, which captures both kinds of buyer.
How do I set the number?
- Collect 5 to 10 comparable reported sales.
- Pick a price within that range based on how fast you want to sell.
- Prefer clean numbers just under a threshold, for example $2,450 rather than $2,500, if the marketplace's search filters use round brackets.
- Review the price every few months; if nothing sells and nobody asks, it is probably too high.
When does lease-to-own make sense?
For names priced in the thousands, lease-to-own lets a small business pay monthly while using the domain. The seller keeps ownership until the final payment. It widens the buyer pool, but you wait longer for the full amount, and you should use a marketplace or escrow service that handles the payments and the transfer.
Should I lower my price after an offer?
Counter instead of refusing. A buyer who made any offer is interested. Come down a little and say why the name is worth it; most deals close somewhere between the first offer and the asking price.
